Is “lifetime” transmission fluid really lifetime?

Manufacturers define “lifetime” as the design life of the unit — often just past warranty. ZF, the maker of most German automatics, recommends service every 50,000–60,000 miles. Fresh fluid is the single best thing you can do for a German gearbox.

Why does brake fluid need changing if the level is fine?

Brake fluid absorbs moisture through hoses and seals. After two years it can hold enough water to corrode the ABS hydraulic unit — a four-figure part — and lower the boiling point enough to soften your pedal. Level tells you nothing about condition.

Can you use universal coolant in my German car?

We don’t. BMW, Mercedes, VW/Audi, and Porsche each specify distinct coolant chemistries. Universal coolant can gel or corrode aluminum components. We stock the correct type for each brand.

How do I know which fluids are due?

Factory schedules define each interval by mileage and time. Give us your VIN and mileage and we’ll tell you exactly what’s due — and what can wait.

Do fluid flushes really prevent repairs?

Demonstrably. The most common four-figure German car failures we see — ABS units, water pumps, valve bodies, differentials — trace directly to degraded fluid. A few hundred dollars of scheduled service prevents most of them.
